Portable Electric Jack Does It All
As an avid off-road enthusiast, Ernie Deason was often tasked with lifting his vehicles and equipment to make repairs.
“My jack was a small, cheesy screw jack, and I wasn’t very happy with it,” Deason laughs. “I’d considered the possibility of making a battery-powered jack, so I thought I’d give it a try. I took a regular trailer jack, made some alterations, and built a prototype I could power with a cordless battery.”
After some trial and error, he patented the Jack B Quick, a customizable, battery-powered 3,500-lb electric jack, updated with durable stop features and a stronger gearbox.
Deason offers the battery-operated jack with Milwaukee, DeWalt or Makita battery platforms, plus provides an adapter to accommodate existing batteries.
The jack features 18 in. of travel in the screw portion, with the foot extending up to 12 in. in 2-in. increments. A top cap is grooved for a stable lift point, ideal for rounded metal such as piping and roll cages. Fully extended, the electric jack reaches a height of 64 in. It also includes an interchangeable, super-sized plastic foot to improve stability on loose surfaces such as mud, sand or gravel.
“I’ve used it to flip over ATVs and pull T-posts out of the ground. Mechanics are using them to change tracks on skid steers and pull hydraulic arms when cylinders are repaired. They’re especially useful as they’re built to push and pull.”
The Jack B Quick electric jack is manufactured in Missouri and is available through distributors across North America. It retails for $1,099 plus S&H.
