Sliding Door Hangers Made From Scrap Parts BUILDINGS Maintenance When Carl Stoloski needed to replace some outbuilding doors he initially planned on using an old school track and pulley system for rolling the new doors open and closed “When you buy track and the necessary hardware you don’t get much for the money ” he says “I thought I could use what I had instead ” First he cut the track to the length he needed then welded 6-in brackets every foot to secure it with lag screws above the doorway On the doors he used three stair-stepped thinner pieces of metal to give a stylish look He drilled a hole in them for the track wheel axles to slide through and then put everything together on the track When it was in place he tacked a small weld on the pin to hold it secure “If you have trouble with a wheel or axle just knock them out and slide a new one in One or two scrap doors give you plenty of wheels and track ” Stoloski says the door systems work well and look sharp enough to use either indoors or outdoors Contact: FARM SHOW Followup Carl Stoloski sstoloski@sbcglobal net
